IWC Big Pilot - The great pilot's watch from IWC is back

The Big Pilot, the great pilot's watch, has been the most famous watch made by IWC since 2002 and is the flagship of the watchmaker company from Switzerland. The case of the Big Pilot is very elegant with its 18-karat white gold and is an eye-catcher at first glance. The bracelet is made of dark brown alligator leather. This also indicates that when making the Big Pilot only the best materials and highest quality finishes were used. A special feature of the watch is the power reserve which lasts seven days when fully wound. Conveniently, it therefore also has a power reserve indicator so that the carrier always knows when the clock must be wound up again. For the inner case, soft iron was used. This means that the watch is protected against magnetic fields and is shielded. With a protection of up to 80,000 amperes per meter, IWC even exceeds the norm for antimagnetic watches by sixteen times. Of course, there again is a date display and the watch is waterproof up to 6 bar.

The tradition of the IWC Big Pilot

With the large pilot's watch, IWC builds on traditions. Even the large pilot's watch from 1940 was extremely similar to today's version. Therein, especially the dial is striking. Traditionally, a marker arrow has been set in place at the top instead of a 12. Even the onion crown is very similar to the one in 1940. The Pilot's Watch of 1940 had a case diameter of 55 millimeters and is still the largest watch, which has ever been built at IWC. This is not surpassed even by today's Big Pilot watch, which nevertheless still has a sizeable diameter of 46.2 millimeters

The Big Pilot is fit to the classic instrument look of a cockpit and fits perfectly in the league of pilot's watches from IWC. But not only pilots and aviation enthusiasts will find this to be a high quality and precision craftsmanship watch.
