In 1902, the company was founded in the Swiss town of La Chaux-de-Fonds. The brand name is derived from the brand slogan "Festina Lente", which means "Haste makes waste". This saying was written on the dials, and this is how the name of the group emerged. Initially, the company was very popular with lovers of mechanical timepieces. In the 80s, the company reoriented itself and began to develop quartz movements. After Miguel Rodriguez took over the company's management in 1984, the group was able to introduce a watch with moon phase indicator a year later. In 1989, the Festina took over the watch brand Jaguar. A year later, Festina developed a special affinity for professional cycling. The Festina riding team was compiled. The team won only 4 years after the founding in the team standings category at the Tour de France. The success was overshadowed by a positive doping test a few years later. Festina focused supplying major cycling events with stopwatches.
The first Tourchrono-series was presented in 1997. And since then, every year another the Tourchrono series is released at the start the Tour de France. In 2007, the 10th anniversary of the Festina Tourchrono watch was celebrated.
Generally speaking, the watches in this collection are marked by a very sporty appearance and enchant with noble materials and a stylish touch of elegance.
The models from the year 2011 are characterized by unusually intense colors. Shining purple and a dangerous green color stand out from the crowd. But there also are subtle alternatives. For the band materials, you can choose between stainless steel and rubber. The round case is protected by mineral glass. The hands and numerals are provided with luminous materials so that the wearer can read the time even in poor visibility or darkness. The Tourchrono watch runs on a quartz battery.
